Whether you need your documents scanned to CD or want to convert your rolls of
microfilm or sheets of microfiche to CD or to view online – we are the document conversion
specialists!
When scanning records for customers, OSC uses the
CD-4070NW Digital Document
Imaging System. This provides our customers with a non-proprietary end product —
CD-Rs with industry standard TIF or PDF files and
searchable indexing using a Windows®
file structure. (Note: For large scanning projects, we will offer those files on
a USB disk drive)
Since the files
provided by OSC are in a non-proprietary format, they can be used in any Windows based computer,
or copied to a shared folder or directory on a network.
This allows any network workstation with permission access to the files. Because
the files are stored in a Windows file structure, normal Windows search methods
can be used to find the files by looking for "begins with", "ends with" or
"contains" a portion of a filename. If you choose to have your files "OCR'd" you
will be able to search for keywords within a file, too!
If needed, we can leave space on each CD-R in
case additional files need to be added. The additional space permits you to add
files to the CD-R or to add pages to a file that was created previously.
Every networked workstation with access can
look at the pages within the same file simultaneously, yet independent of each
other.
OSC offers Archive
Quality CD-Rs with estimated life expectance of 300 years for you valuable
files. We also provide duplicate CD-Rs for use as working copies, distribution
and/or security/back-up/disaster recovery. Should the "master" be updated, then
previously made duplicates can be updated.
IThere are no
license fees (initial or annual) to pay with our system should you wish to
upload your CD-Rs to your network, or to add files or pages to your archive.
If you are currently using proprietary imaging
software, our office can convert you out of it and into our non-proprietary
system, and then if you choose to do your own scanning or to network your
system, you do not have proprietary software issues with which to deal.
